Follow our World Trip
Guess what…we finally figured out how to put a map on the website 🙂
As we have travelled for more than half a year we thought it was time for a small summary of our trip so far!
We started our amazing adventure in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. We packed our heavy backpacks and hopped on a flight with a stopover in Riga, Latvia before making our way into Russia.
We enjoyed our time in rainy St. Petersburg with its grand Church of Spilled Blood, The Hermitage Museum and its lively atmosphere. We strolled though the streets of Moscow and paid a visit to the infamous Kremlin and the Red Square. We then boarded the epic Trans-Siberian Train to Lake Baikal in eastern Russia to explore the Siberian Nature.
After an eight-hour border holdup we moved into vast Mongolia. We toured with an old 4×4 van through the Gobi Desert and traversed the empty open plains. We found out there is nothing more heart-warming than Mongolian Hospitality and nothing more adventurous than a Mongolian toilet.
Our Trans-Mongolian Train-ride came to an end in the capital of the East; Beijing! We spend two months in this incredible yet strange world called China and visited the great wall and the Forbidden City. We’ve seen the emperor’s Terracotta army and visited several ancient walled cities. We climbed the Avatar mountains for stunning landscapes, found Pandas in Chengdu, walked around in buzzing Hong Kong and so much more.
We took our first flight of our trip from Hong Kong to mountainous Laos, where we bathed in the endless cascading waterfalls, visited golden temples and explored an underwater cave.
Two weeks later, we participated in the magical festival of light in Chang Mai, Thailand. Thousands of lanterns, fireworks and floats decorated the city for several days!
We boarded another plane and flew to Bali, Indonesia for some relaxing time at the beach, with amazing people and great food. Our home away from home.
Next up was cultural Myanmar to visit the ancient royal capitals around Mandalay before taking the boat to the magical temples of Bagan. We also made a visit to the floating markets and fishermen at Inle Lake.
We flew back into Thailand to explore the south of the country and the islands in the Gulf of Thailand. We enjoyed the deserted tropical beaches, amazing wildlife and PINK DOLPHINS before meeting my parents in Cha’am for some quality Family Time!
In the Philippines we went searching for gentle giants in Donsol and hopped the islands between Coron and El Nido with TAO. Every beach more perfect than the next. We had a look at the Bohol’s famous Chocolate Hills, its rare tarsiers and swam with whale-sharks in Cebu.
Now we arrived in Bali, again. This time to plan our visit to Australia. Who know’s where we’ll end up! Stay tuned!
